Afghanistan Faces Must-Win T20 Clash Against India After Heavy First Defeat

Afghanistan faces India in the second T20 International on Tuesday with the series on the line after India dominated the opening match in New Delhi.
India leads the three-match series 1–0 after chasing down Afghanistan’s 157-run target with 38 balls to spare. Afghanistan now needs a much stronger performance to keep the series alive.
Afghanistan’s batting struggled badly at the start of the first match. The team was reduced to 41 for four during the powerplay before Azmatullah Omarzai launched a counterattack.
Omarzai produced Afghanistan’s biggest contribution with 64 runs, while Mohammad Nabi added 33. Their partnership helped Afghanistan recover from a difficult position and reach a competitive total of 156.
India, however, made the chase look comfortable. Abhishek Sharma smashed 82 from just 32 balls, while Ishan Kishan added 42 as India reached the target with more than six overs remaining.
Afghanistan will now need a much sharper start with the bat and greater control with the ball. The second match also gives the team an opportunity to respond immediately rather than allowing India to take an unassailable 2–0 lead.
India will enter the match with confidence after its commanding opening victory, but Afghanistan has another chance to change the momentum of the series.
The second T20I therefore carries more than just another match. For Afghanistan, it is a chance to fight back, level the series and take the contest into a decisive third game.
